It’s a fair question and one that we think about a lot at The Organic Affair. Why do we sell what we sell?
First and foremost, we believe in the organic process and the holistic approach to health and wellness. After all, nature was here first, and the whole is invariably greater than the sum of the parts.
Why do we sell what we sell? We provide a very specific product line. The Organic Affair is not a warehouse. We believe in what we provide our customers, and we like our suppliers’ philosophies and practices – so much that we, too, use their offerings.
For instance, New Chapter’s products consist of pure whole food and herbs without using chemical isolates and solvents to isolate the herb’s active ingredient alone. It was also the first company to have its multivitamin probiotics reviewed and certified to National Organic Program standards by a USDA-accredited, third-party certifier.
Barlean’s Organic Oils are pressed on demand after they are ordered, shipped the next morning, air delivery, and dated with the press date and “freshest before” date. Byproducts from the flax seed pressing process are recycled and sprayed on the Barlean’s farm in Ferndale, WA.
When product manufacturers for Jery Cochern’s health food store balked at making a multiple incorporating super foods like wheat grass juice, he and a friend solved the problem by starting their own production company and providing the first food-based multiple. Cochern is now Pure Essence Labs’ driving force.
Our tea suppliers, Numi Teas and Blackberry Pond Tea Company both provide world-class, organic teas, but there’s more. Each company’s principals have a genuine passion and love affair with tea. Rocky and Colette are the mother-daughter team behind Blackberry Pond. Numi’s founders, siblings Ahmed and Reem, photographer and artist/biomedical engineer, respectively, provide teas that are simultaneously certified as Kosher, Pareve and Halal (the latter indicating no ingredients forbidden to those of the Muslim faith.)
Fran Strachan launched Zia Natural Skincare in 1984 from her San Francisco apartment with one product. Since then Zia has become a leader in natural skin care and cosmetics, using only whole food ingredients and therapeutic-grade oils and extracts with no harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances or colors.
Why do we sell what we sell? We like the spirit of those whose products we offer. We want to become involved; we want to explore and learn and then share what we’ve learned with others. We would like people, perhaps, to at least consider a new way of thinking, a new process of being well. There’s a lot to love about life and living. Begin loving your life – naturally.
