3 Ways to Stay On Top of Your Game
1. Never stop learning. The minute you realize that you have nothing interesting to bring to a conversation (this includes yet another work story) consider catching up on reading. Reading expands the mind - whether it's fictional, self-improvement, or financial literature - you are sure to broaden your mental capacity when learning something new. Tip: Invest in Audio CD's if you don't have time to read. They are perfect to put on your ipod while you're at the gym or for that hectic daily commute.
2. Get back into the gym or join a gym for the first time. It's easy to get sidetracked with family and work occupying most of your time, but being in shape (a.k.a. having the energy and ability to live your life) is important in order to give and be your best. If you are uncomfortable being at the gym, find a buddy to work out with. You can be certain that if you find a friend, and yes, your wife counts, you will stick with a routine and work even harder than if you worked out alone.
3. Eat right. McDonald's and beer don't count. To get your metabolism on the right path, try eating a protein and complex carb every three hours. Lean protein includes chicken breast, lean red meat, fish, egg whites, whey or soy protein, beans, legumes, and nuts. Complex carbs include brown rice, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and vegetables. A word to the wise: not only will you lose your gut by eating this way, but you will have more energy than you can imagine by feeding your body throughout the day.
