Be Berry Careful Buying Acai.
Alliteration aside, there has been a substantial amount of hype about acai berry. And you – as in most cases where hype and hyperbole cross swords with marketing – you need to be on your toes.
Type acia berry into your browser, and a scant .13 seconds later you’ll have over 5 million results to peruse on this small fruit. The internet is crammed with claims, offers and, sadly, scams.
Acai berry comes from the acai palm in Central and South America. The one-inch-long, red-purple berry is similar to blueberries, red grapes, raspberries and red wines in its antioxidant content.
Studies have shown that the acai pulp is higher in antioxidant content than its counterparts, making it an excellent free radical-neutralizing agent. Free radicals are caused by life’s stressors and linked to many disease factors.
However, recently acai has become a darling of sorts for celebrity weight-loss claims, and marketers far and wide have jumped all over the little fruit making universal wide-eyed claims it is the next miracle food.
That may or may not be the case as research continues.
Unfortunately, the market has become clogged with “free trials” that often end up being anything but free, and at least two attorneys general, Illinois and Connecticut, have launched investigation into improper credit card charges into perpetuity after customers agreed to a 14-day “free” trial.
The bottom line is that no one product will lead to miraculous or “easy” weight loss. There is no pill or magic bullet to health. Weight loss and wellness will only come through proper nutrition, exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
That is, has been and will be The Organic Affair’s message. You can’t get there from here by simply opening a bottle.
We do offer acai-based products from Rainforest, a division of Ultra Labs in California. Ultra Labs is a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturer, offering only the purest products. Additionally their acai is freeze-dried, which is critical to export the pulp from South America to our shelves.
We do not, however, offer free trials or make wild, unsubstantiated claims.
Acai is another excellent supplement to consider for your health and weight loss.
However, if you suffer from pollen allergies or a hypersensitivity to similar fruits, you may wish to consider an alternative to acai.
In any event, don’t fall for a “free” trial. Do the research. Give us a call. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.
Be well.
